My 5 Steps To A Successful Hypnobirth: Let's Do This!

Are you ready?

Ready for what? Ready to reframe your thinking about pregnancy, labour and birth and get to work?! I've said it before, and I'll say it again because in all honesty, this is the key to Hypnobirthing: if you create the right mindset and put in the work - you WILL get the results. My 5 Steps To A Successful Hypnobirth: Let's Do This!

1. Permission Do you often find yourself pushing aside your most exciting dreams, in an attempt to please other people or to do what is expected of you? Have you been thinking about Hypnobirthing for a while, but come up against resistance from well-meaning friends or family members - maybe even your own partner - who wonder what the hell you're on about now?! Does it feel a little out of your comfort zone? Just spend a moment now, imagining what your birth could be like, if you took that leap of faith, stepped out of your comfort zone and put aside what other people think about how you should prepare for the birth of your baby..... Give yourself permission to break free from other people's expectations and let's do this! 2. Willpower With so much else to think about, do you worry about finding the time to squeeze your Hypnobirting practice into your already busy life? Wouldn't it just be easier to kick back and binge watch Netflix whilst tucking into a giant box of Malteasers?! Or, do you think you have the will power to resist short-term temptation in order to prepare for the best possible birth experience for you and your baby? Having a clear purpose and clear reason for doing something (like giving birth to your baby ~ like a boss!) can increase your sense of determination. You're also more likely to stick with something when it's important to you. Having the right skills necessary to help you achieve your goals will also help, massively. What do you need to change so that you can exercise your willpower and begin to resist temptation....? All set?! Let's do this! 3. Procrastination You lead a busy life - with work, home and other commitments. Do you wonder how you will find the time and energy to take on yet another commitment with what little free time you have left? When will you get time to just flop on the sofa?! The answer is to prioritise rest, through your Hypnobirthing practice, so that you build your reserves, hone your skills, and have enough energy to totally ace your birth! Stop making excuses! Commit to action and let's do this! 4. Limiting Beliefs "But my mum said that giving birth to me was the worst experience of her life!" "Everybody knows how much giving birth hurts, right?" Sound familiar? These are limiting beliefs: negative or disempowering thoughts that we have chosen to believe are true, which have often been fed to us by someone else's fears or insecurities. NEWSFLASH! Limiting beliefs are not backed up by any kind of real evidence. Spend a few minutes writing down every limiting belief you have about pregnancy, labour and birth. When you're done, alongside every limiting belief, write an empowering statement or helpful thought. Make each one motivational; be kind to yourself and look for evidence so support your thinking. Breakthrough Now it's time to start making plans, because the more you learn about birth, the more you will trust this amazing process. And there's no time like the present! You can begin your plan of action right here, right now, by deciding what small or large thing you're going to do today to make your birthing journey enjoyable - and most importantly, a success! LET'S DO THIS!
