It makes my blood boil when women come to me feeling anxious and concerned, saying they've been told they have to do this or they must do that - NO! It's your body and your baby - you decide! You absolutely have the right to say no, and saying it once should be enough!
Whether you are planning to give birth to your baby at home, in a Birth Centre/Midwife Led Unit (MLU), or indeed in your local hospital, you may like to consider using a birth pool. If I had a pound for every time I was asked: 'But does it really work?', I'd be whisking my family away on a 5 star African safari!
Only last weekend I was quizzed about my own Hypnobirthing experience: 'Did it work?' she asked. And it got me thinking that perhaps I should take 5 and explain what Hypnobirthing is really all about and demystify the 'Hypno' part of Hypnobithing once and for all!

People say that becoming a parent is life-changing. I was prepared for this. I just hadn't known exactly how this change would manifest itself.
In the run up to Johan's birth-day, Dave and I practised something called 'Hypnobirthing'. Perhaps you've heard of it? It's becoming more widely talked about in the media. Granted, it's not yet mainstream, but **** me it should be!
